Sealants

Protect your molars and other hard-to-reach teeth with dental sealant. The back of your mouth is the most vulnerable to harboring food particles and other harmful things that can lead to decay. Sealants cover these areas to mitigate the risk of dental issues in the future.

Reaching the deep grooves on your teeth is difficult, even with regular brushing and flossing. Without proper treatment, these tiny areas can develop serious tooth decay. Dental sealants give your teeth extra protection again decay and help prevent cavities.

Sealants are plastic resins that bond and harden in the grooves on your tooth. They create a smoother, flatter surface on your tooth that is significantly easier to clean. This makes brushing your teeth much easier and more effective against tooth decay.

While sealants are common for children that just received their permanent teeth, they can also be very helpful for adults with healthy teeth that want to prevent any future issues. They can last from three to five years, but it’s not unheard of to see adults with sealants still intact from their childhood. Sealants may chip or break which makes them not as useful, so reach out to our office if yours has broken or fallen off.
